Historical homes walking tour

The Historical Homes Walking Tour is set for Saturday, June 12, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM (rain date is June 13). The tour includes:

  • The Church of the Resurrection
  • The Dodd Brown home, which is the property of Earl and Kit Haynes
  • The first house built on Bland's Knob, once known as "Sunset Cabin," owned by Walter and Thana Kulash
  • The former dental office of Dr. J. S. Howell and the former home of W. A. Avant, owned by Jack Byrnes
  • The Charles H. Duls home, also called "Echo Cottage," currently owned by Mrs. Jim Duls, Clyde and Norma King
  • The original home of Judge W. B. Sommerville, owned by David and Yvonne Evans

Tickets for the Home Tour may be purchased in advance for $20 by contacting Elaine Percival at or 828-765-1175. Tickets are limited and purchasing before June 12 is strongly recommended. Profits from the ticket sales for this event will be donated to the Little Switzerland Fire Department Debt Retirement Fund.

Tickets and registration will be available on the day of the tour at Geneva Hall located near the Switzerland Inn. Those planning to participate in this event should be aware that this walking tour covers approximately two miles, and may involve an occasional rise in elevation and some uneven surfaces. Walking shoes and comfortable clothing are advised.
